Rosemary Fielding is delighted when impressario and family friend Oliver Duncan suggests turning her novel into a mini-series. However, she's less kindly disposed towards his choice of leading man, the actor Stephen Walker, and dreads having to meet him. True to his reputation, Stephen is rude and arrogant causing Rosemary to retaliate.
With Oliver insisting they settle their differences, author and actor spend a weekend together, culminating in a never to be forgotten Cinnabar Summer. With the cinnabar destined to share only one summer together, what does fate have in store for Rosemary and Stephen?

CINNABAR SUMMER was inspired by the following: A photo of exquisitely beautiful Cinnabar moths (taken by her son), a radio interview with the author Anne Fine, a family holiday in Norfolk and last, but not least, numerous visits to Sheffield, where her youngest son was at university. Deeply impressed by the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city, the warmth of the people and the diverse contrasts between the old and the new, Danielle decided that Sheffield had to feature in one of her novels. CINNABAR SUMMER is the result.
