' Romantic fiction of the highest order is the stock-in-trade of Hertfordshire author Danielle Shaw, who formerly studied fashion and design at London College of Fashion (now the University of the Arts) before working for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet.

Her latest book, "A Fabric of Dreams" , draws on her skills as a seamstress as much as it does on her literary ability.
Anna, Madge, Beattie, Gavin and Fudge work in the wardrobe department at the Alexandra Theatre. Chasing impossible deadlines and dealing with picky impresarios, Anna, the manager of the team, runs a close-knit, tightly-run ship and her dedicated team put in the extra hours to ensure the show goes on in time.

Sadly, when the theatre is threatened with closure it looks as if all their hard work will be undone.
A topical story in the light of Wycombe Swan's recent brush with the Arts Council funding cuts, "A Fabric of Dreams" is also an easy and enjoyable read.
The characters are finely drawn, especially the flamboyant Beattie and vulnerable heroine, Anna. You know where you are with Danielle. She lets you know who is likely to fall for whom, leaving you free to kick off your shoes, put your feet up and savour where she chooses to take you.
